That caught me completely off guard, because no one has ever really put me in the category of “ministry.” I don’t fit the mold when it comes to modern Christianity or organized religion. I am a follower of Jesus, and to me, there is a difference. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that maybe this has been ministry all along. This ministry is built on faith, integrity, and community. I believe the Church was always meant to care for the people directly around them: the struggling single mom, the family behind on bills, the parent trying to keep the lights on, the woman leaving an abusive relationship, the person one emergency away from losing everything (including their dignity). The goal is simple: meet real needs in real time. I believe in tithing. I believe in giving & generosity. But I also believe somewhere along the way we lost the heart behind it. The early Church didn’t tithe so pastors could live like celebrities while the people funding the church silently struggled to survive. We have churches with stage lights, smoke machines, luxury vehicles, and million-dollar building s while families sitting in the pews cannot pay their electric bill. That is backwards. If someone in the Body of Christ is choosing between groceries and gas while church leadership lives in excess, something is deeply broken. I am not against churches. I am against disconnect. I’m against performative religion that looks holy on stage but ignores suffering six rows back. This ministry is about giving back to real people. Real needs. Real impact. This is not about exploitation, humiliation, or making people perform their pain for help. I’m not interested in turning struggling families into content. There may be times basic proof is needed simply to protect the integrity of the ministry, but the heart behind this is trust, compassion, and dignity. I believe people should be able to ask for help without being publicly torn apart. And I also believe people should remember that what you sow, you reap. If someone chooses to take advantage of generosity meant for people and families in need, that is between them and God. I believe we are called to bear one another’s burdens, step in when someone is drowning, and use what we have to help people survive, heal, and move forward.
